Professional Experience and Background
Tim J. Yianne was born and raised in Charleston, West Virginia. He lives in the Historic District of the East End with his wife and daughter.
Tim attended West Virginia University on academic and athletic scholarships. He was the recipient of the G. Belmont Berry Leadership Scholarship, which is awarded to a select number of high school seniors who demonstrate academic success and leadership qualities.
Tim lettered in soccer all four years that he attended West Virginia University. He was selected team captain his junior and senior years. Tim was a Big East Academic All Star his junior and senior years. He graduated with honors from West Virginia University with a B.S. in accounting.
Tim then attended the West Virginia University College of Law. He received the Andrew Pete Wood, Jr., Fellowship to attend the law school. While in law school, Tim served on the West Virginia University Student Judicial Board Court of Appeals.
Tim began his legal career in the public sector as a law clerk in the Sixth Judicial Circuit, Huntington, West Virginia. After completing his judicial clerkship, Tim entered into the private sector to practice law as a litigator. His prior experience consists of representing corporations, individuals, and insurance companies in litigation. He won his first jury trial as lead counsel at the age of 29.
In addition to trying multiple cases throughout West Virginia, Tim has represented clients on appellate issues before the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia and the United States Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
In 2010, at the age of 35, Tim was a recipient of the Generation Next 40 Under 40 Award. The award is given to individuals in West Virginia under 40 years old who are making their mark as professionals and executives in business, government and volunteer service.
Tim serves on the Board of Directors for the Ronald McDonald House of Southern West Virginia. He currently is the Vice President of the Board.
